LEADING AND ORGANISING TOURS
Many years experience of leading and organising trips, tours and holidays in the UK, Britain and abroad.
I was encouraged when only ten years old to begin leading groups into the countryside. I soon became a local group leader and a National Social activity officer for the Woodcraft Folk, which involved organising indoor and outdoor activities for up to 1,000 people, in Britain and abroad.
I have worked for a number of travel agents leading natural history and flower lover groups to many of the mountain regions of Europe, a number of international and British botanical areas, and many gardens of Britain. These have involved visiting:- Australia, Austria, Belgium,, Crete, Croatia, Ethiopia, France, Georgia, Greece, Holland, Iceland, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Luxembourg, Mexico, Morocco, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, USSR and the Himalayas (India, Nepal and Sikkim).
I organise the annual 'Gavin's Holidays' - wild life trips abroad, of 7-14 days, for keen natural history friends, and have organised trips/tours for many organisations, including the Parks Apprentices, Dartington Horticultural Training Centre, Dartington Morris Men (founder member 1968), Alpine Garden Society (local Secretary 31 yrs, and current Chairman), and Dartington Natural History Society (Chairman and organiser for 40 years).
I helped correlate the leading of Suttons Seeds 1996, Caribbean/Cunard Tour. In recent years I have been appointed as a host and leader for Greentours, Saga Holidays and Enterprise Travel.
I have also visited , Costa Rica, Cyprus, Ecuador & the Galapagos Islands,, India, Iran, Jordan, Mexico, Namibia and Botswana, U.S.A (Alaska, Hawaii, Louisiana, N.E., N.W. & Rocky Mts.) and Yucatan
